Dora on the Phone

So yesterday I heard a story about SweetPea. She can be quite imaginative. This leads to a lot of funny discussions. But this one I didn't know about.

Apparently a few weeks ago SweetPea was in Sunday School and she reached into her pocket and took out a pretend Cell phone and announced that Dora was on the phone. She began to get up and walk out the door when her teacher ask if she could see the phone. Her teacher spoke with Dora on the phone to let her know that SweetPea was at church and could not talk on the phone right now, but SweetPea would call her back after church when she got home. SweetPea's teacher also let Dora know that no one else will be calling SweetPea because she is in church and they know that. Dora promised not to call anymore during church. SweetPea's teacher handed back the phone and had SweetPea put it back in her pocket. A few minutes later SweetPea started to reach for her "phone" again and said that it was ringing. SweetPea's teacher said it "it better not be Dora, She promised she wouldn't call during church anymore." SweetPea never answered the phone.

Comment:
Kelly - I've heard a few hilarious stories about Micah from Primary teachers and presidency members, all of which are really only funny if he's not your kid!

Naming the baby

This is from awhile back, but I was just reminded of it.

One day I was making a list of possible names for the baby (I was pregnant with Banana, but we didn't know the gender yet.)

SweetPea: What are you doing?
Luna: Writing down possible names for the baby? What do you think we should name the baby?
SweetPea: (after a contemplative pause) Jesus Christ!
Luna: I'll write it down, but I don't think we can use it. What if we have a girl, what should her name be.
SweetPea: SweetPea!
Luna: I think both of those names are taken.

When I went in for my big ultrasound when I was pregnant with Banana we took the kids. SweetPea enjoyed watching it all. Right after the ultrasound we were taken to a room to see the doctor. We had to wait a bit. SweetPea decided to act out the ultrasound. First she practiced on me. Then she had me give her an ultrasound. My whole pregnancy SweetPea referred to my belly as my "baby tummy." At that appointment, after her "ultrasound" she announced she had a "Doggy Tummy"

Big Booty

After my birthday we had a bit of cake left so SweetPea and I shared it. I was then going to throw out the rest. So SweetPea took the last little bits of dried out frosting to munch on and I tossed the rest away. A few minutes later she went to the kitchen and saw that the cake was gone.
SweetPea: Mom, did you eat my cake?
Luna: Mom and SweetPea ate the cake.
SweetPea: Mom you eat my cake. Your Booty is going to get big… My booty is going to get big

A few days later I had an appt to go to. So I packed up the kids and headed for the appt. We were waiting for our names to be called. SweetPea and Bubba were playing, not too wildly, but I wasn’t too worried because there was hardly anyone else there. We were in the front row about 8-10 ft from the front desk. SweetPea came and sat down beside me just as a large woman approached the desk to turn in some paperwork.
SweetPea: Why is that mommy giant?
Luna: All mommies are giant or tall compared to little kids. (She sometimes uses the word giant instead of tall)
SweetPea: Why is the Mommy’s Booty so giant?
I really did not know what to say at this point. I wasn’t sure if I could pull off a pirate’s voice well enough to change the booty from a behind into treasure, nor did I think anyone else in the room would buy it. So I then made it my goal to make my kids the perfect kids. (I have found that ladies of the South have no problem talking very loudly about other people’s children with anyone around. We live in “spare the rod spoil the child-ville” So I knew all eyes were on us and everyone had to sit perfectly quiet with hands folded in laps from that point forward.) Luckily we were called back very shortly.

Ants Hole

I was getting ready to give SweetPea a bath when she said, "Do I have ants?" and she starts to put her hand in her bum. I am trying to get her to stop putting her hand in her bum. But she keeps asking about the ants. Then she bends over and opens up her butt and asks about the ants, so I finally said... "there are no ants, where are the ants?" her response. "in my hole. My ants hole." I was laughing so hard. I have no idea where she got this. But Hubbs and I were crying and laughing so hard for so long. I finally composed myself and finished bathing her and got her a new pull up and told her there were no ants. There never will be ants, and not to talk about the ants in her pants anymore
